    Certifications

    AIMPLAS helps companies composing the plastic value chain to be certified through different mechanisms: Recyclass to ensure the chain of custody of the material and its traceability, technological validations of recyclability according to Recyclass and the APR (American Association of Recyclers), and compostability and biodegradation tests in different environments. In addition, together with KIWA, it is certified by ENAC to help companies to avoid or reduce the tax on non-reusable plastic packaging required by the Law 7/2022 through auditing. Finally, it has its own certification mark for reusable packaging - Design to be reusable.

    AIMPLAS advises on the analysis of the causes of failure, breakage, or functionality problems of containers and offers solutions through their control and characterization (leaks, breaks, tightness, chemical compatibility, sealability...) and the improvement of properties (through polymer mixtures, additivation and/or modification of polymers and processing conditions). It also prepares technical reports for arbitrations and expert reports as well as advising on the compliance with legislation for reusable packaging. Finally, they offer training in materials, processes and packaging characterization.

    Packaging adapted to the consumer

    AIMPLAS designs and develops products for the adaptation of formats and uses suitable for the elderly, easy-open closures, dispensers, labels, intelligent visual indicators, etc. It also uses digital or 3D printing to create customizable packaging and generates materials with high thermal resistance to obtain microwaveable and bakable containers.

    AIMPLAS carries out studies and validations of the product to verify that it is safe and complies with the applicable regulations, as well as to identify and minimise possible NIAS (substances not added intentionally). In addition, it guarantees compliance with the legislation on the use of recycled material in contact with food, both in the authorization process and in the development of products based on the use of functional barriers. Finally, it offers legislation workshops at a basic and advanced level to assist companies in ensuring safety and compliance with food contact materials legislation.

    Sustainable packaging

    AIMPLAS uses sustainable materials (recycled, bioplastics) to develop packaging with a lower environmental impact through eco-design and in accordance with methodologies such as carbon footprint or life cycle assessment (LCA). Through biodegradability and compostability studies, the recyclability of the product, the minimization of waste and the control of marine litter are guaranteed while complying with the applicable regulations and generating product certification. In the case of disposable packaging, it is guaranteed to comply with the SUP (Single Use Plastic) directive.

    AIMPLAS has the capacity to manufacture materials with high barrier properties and to improve and characterize packaging (permeability, sealability, etc.). At the same time, it has the ability to take advantage of waste to obtain biopolymers and additives used in plastics. In addition, it develops active packaging that extends the lifespan of the product as well as intelligent expiry systems that reduce food waste.
